SkimF / Legal
Privacy policy
This policy describes what personal data we process on the SkimF website and in the SkimF extension for Chrome and Microsoft Edge, why, for how long, and what rights you have. In short: your decisions about listings stay in your browser, the extension sends us only anonymous usage statistics and only if you agree, and the website collects no e-mail addresses. It only measures visits, without cookies.
1. Who the controller is
The controller of personal data is:
BLABU CZ s.r.o.Zahrebska 562/41, 120 00 Prague 2, Czech Republic
Company ID: 07899912, VAT ID: CZ07899912
Data box ID: wdgv3d4
E-mail: support@blabu.com
We have not appointed a data protection officer, as we are not required to. For anything about personal data, write to the address above.
2. The website
Visitor measurement
To learn which campaigns and which parts of the site work, we measure visits with PostHog, hosted in the European Union. We record page views, clicks on the install buttons, the notice shown to browsers other than desktop Chrome and Edge, the device and browser type, an approximate location derived from the IP address, and the campaign parameters in the link.
- No cookies, no tracking: the tool stores no cookie and no other identifier in your browser, records nothing you type and does not follow your path through the site. Two of your visits cannot be linked together.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in evaluating and improving the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), which you may object to.
- Retention: 12 months at most.
Technical data and cookies
The website uses no cookies and no advertising tools, and loads no third-party content beyond the measurement above. The server the site runs on records the usual access data (IP address, time, requested page, browser identification). That serves operation and security only (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The hosting provider keeps and deletes those logs on its own schedule, and we use them for nothing else.
3. The SkimF extension
The extension has no server of ours and no account. We cannot see which listings you browse, what you hide or what you write: all of that stays inside your browser, where we have no access to it. The one thing the extension can send us is anonymous usage statistics, and only if you agree (see below).
What it stores, and where
-
Your decisions and settings (hidden and saved homes, "Not the
same" corrections, your settings) live in
chrome.storage.sync. With browser sync on, the browser carries them between your own devices signed in to the same account: Google in Chrome, Microsoft in Edge. The way bookmarks travel. -
Notes, cached listing details and their fingerprints (title,
photo, price, address, layout, size and the coordinates needed to recognise a
re-posted listing, which listings you have seen, the last photo you viewed) live
in
chrome.storage.localand stay on that device only.
What it talks to
Only the site you are currently on (rightmove.co.uk, zoopla.co.uk, onthemarket.com, zillow.com, realtor.com, redfin.com, immobilienscout24.de, immowelt.de, kleinanzeigen.de, willhaben.at, immobilienscout24.at, immowelt.at, homegate.ch, immoscout24.ch, flatfox.ch, sreality.cz, reality.idnes.cz, ceskereality.cz, bezrealitky.cz), on your behalf and with your existing session. On Rightmove, Zoopla and OnTheMarket your saved properties on the site are never read or changed: the sites' own save buttons save into SkimF instead. On all three the next page of results is fetched when you scroll, and on OnTheMarket a listing's page is fetched when you step past the five photos the search shows. On Zillow, Realtor.com and Redfin your saved homes on the site are never read or changed. On Zillow and Realtor.com the listing page is fetched when you ask for more photos, and the next page of results when you scroll. On Redfin the same, except that the listing page is fetched only for a home whose photos the page you are on does not already list. On ImmoScout24, immowelt, Kleinanzeigen, willhaben, Homegate and Flatfox your saved listings on the site are never read or changed: the sites' own save buttons save into SkimF instead (on Kleinanzeigen, on a listing's own page). There a listing's own page is fetched only when you bring that listing up in Skim Mode or the photo gallery (on Flatfox, that listing's details from Flatfox's own API instead), and the next page of results when you scroll to the end of the list, except on Flatfox, where the site's own "Mehr anzeigen" (show more) button adds results. Nothing is fetched in the background. On ImmoScout24 (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), willhaben, Homegate and Flatfox a script in the page also reads the data the site's own page has already loaded; it only reads it and fetches nothing itself. If you have turned on usage statistics, it also sends them to PostHog (eu.i.posthog.com), as described below. Nothing is sent anywhere else.
Anonymous usage statistics, only with your consent
The extension asks once, at the end of its first-run guide or in its popup, whether it may send anonymous usage statistics. Nothing is sent until you answer. In the United States the guide's box starts ticked and you can untick it; everywhere else it starts empty, and only your tick turns it on.
- What is sent: which SkimF buttons and features you use (for example liking or hiding a listing, adding a note, opening the side panel or the popup, changing a setting), on which supported portal, and once a day how many pages, listings and hidden listings the extension handled on each portal. Each event also carries the extension version, the browser (Chrome or Edge) and its language, a coarse region taken from your time zone (United States, Europe or other) and a random identifier created on your device.
- What is never sent: web addresses, listing IDs, street addresses, prices, photos, the text of your notes, your searches, and anything about websites other than the supported portals.
- Where it goes: PostHog, hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt), as our processor. Like any request on the internet it carries your IP address; we switch off PostHog's location lookup for these events.
- Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and section 89(3) of Czech Act No. 127/2005 Coll.).
- Retention: 12 months at most.
- Turning it off: at any time in the extension's settings, under Data and privacy. That also deletes the random identifier and any statistics not yet sent from your device, so what was already sent can no longer be linked to you.
How to delete everything
In the extension's settings, under Data and privacy, with "Delete saved and hidden listings", or by uninstalling the extension. Uninstalling also removes the copy the browser synced to your account. You can export your data to a file first.
If a future version is to send any other data, we will say so in this policy and in the store listing before that version ships, and it will require your consent.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data, do not use it for advertising and do not pass it to third parties for their own purposes. To run the website and the extension's usage statistics we use processors who may handle data only on our instructions:
- website hosting: Gransy s.r.o. (operator of the Subreg.cz service), Borivojova 878/35, 130 00 Prague 3, Czech Republic, company ID 28087755,
- PostHog Inc., USA, for visitor measurement on the website and, if you agree, the extension's usage statistics, with the data stored in the EU (Frankfurt).
We process data in the European Union. PostHog is a US company; where access from the US occurs, the transfer is covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. Sync of the extension's data is handled by Google within your Chrome account, or by Microsoft within your Edge account, each as a separate controller under its own policy; we have no access to it.
5. Your rights
In relation to personal data we process about you, you have the right:
- of access, and to a copy of the data,
- to have inaccurate data corrected,
- to erasure,
- to restriction of processing,
- to data portability,
- to object to processing based on legitimate interest,
- to withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting what was processed before,
- to lodge a complaint with the Czech Data Protection Authority, Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Prague 7, uoou.gov.cz.
Send your request to support@blabu.com. We will handle it without undue delay and within one month at the latest. You do not have to give a reason for erasure.
The data the extension stores is entirely under your own control: you can view, export and delete it in the extension's settings.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the service or the law changes. The current version is always on this page, with its effective date.
